Word Families introduced in Set 3: ake, ale, ame, ash, ate, ide, ine
A detailed description of how to make your Word Family Flip Sheets is included in this download.
Word Family Flip Sheets are reproducible. They are easy to make, store, reuse, and replace. They are perfect for whole classroom use, as well as small groups, centers, and as take-home reinforcement.
Word Family Flip Sheets are designed to help your students master 37 high frequency word families. There are five sets. They provide practice in changing rime patterns to strengthen accuracy and fluency. Six onsets (beginning with initial consonants and following with consonant blends and/or digraphs), together with two word families, create 12 words on each sheet. As an example, please refer to the free download sample, which uses the word families “ack” and “ick”. The “ack” word family is placed six times down the center of the sheet. Folding the left tab over in front of the “ack” families adds six onsets, creating the words sack, pack, quack, clack, stack, and track. When the right tab is folded over the “ack” word families, they are replaced by the “ick” word families, forming the words sick, pick, quick, click, stick, and trick.
