This product has been a game changer for my student when it comes to reading! My students love using these powerpoints and songs to learn each word family.
Included in this product are 7 powerpoints that go over each short vowel a word family. Each word family has its own separate powerpoint. Students are introduced to the word family by reviewing the letter sounds that make up that word family. A song is then played about the word family. Simply press the speaker on the slide to hear the song! Students are then led through a series of slides where they blend and read CVC words with that particular word family. At the end of each powerpoint, students are given a short review/test where they can try and write 4 of the words from that word family.

These powerpoints work on a computer, iPad, projector, or smartboard!

Please download the preview file to see more!

Here are the word families and words included in each powerpoint:
★ 1- at family: cat, rat, mat, sat, bat
★ 2- ad family: dad, sad, pad, mad, lad, bad
★ 3- ag family: bag, rag, tag, wag
★ 4- am family: ham, ram, yam, jam
★ 5- an family: fan, man, ran, can, pan, van
★ 6- ap family: map, sap, tap, cap, nap
★ 7- Mixed practice: This is a review powerpoint. Students are shown a picture of a short a CVC word. The picture has 3 boxes underneath. Students can practice writing that CVC word on their personal whiteboard, a smartboard, or a recording sheet.

4 different recording sheets are also included to be used with ANY word family! Simply print and laminate or put in a page protector. Students can use a dry erase marker to write the word family words as they follow along on the powerpoint.

When each word family is taught, there are multiple slides to introduce the word family, and have students practice blending:
Letter sounds review slides: Students review the letter sounds that make up the word family.
Write it on your whiteboard: Students practice writing each word that is introduced on their whiteboards or recording sheets.
Word Family song slide: A song about the word family is included for every word family! The tune of the song is "The Farmer in the Dell" Click on the play button on the slide to hear a recording of the song.
Blending slides: Students practice blending and reading CVC words. The words are introduced one letter at a time to help with blending. There is a dot under each letter to help students point to the word as they blend. Pictures are included after each word is read to help students make a connection.
Review slides: Students practice identifying pictures for each beginning sound, AND practice remembering how to spell CVC words from that word family!
