Not familiar with MOVE IT activities? The idea is simple; these powerpoints review skills with built-in brain breaks. Animated timers and music add to the fun.
This huge set covers 25 word families and contains 5 separate PowerPoints! I love the "Family" theme in this set. In each PowerPoint, a car cruises through the word family neighborhood and stops at 5 houses. At each house, we see pictures of all the "family members" and then we see their word family photo album. Between each house is a MOVE IT break. Kids will get up and do simple exercises at their seats. After you have visited 5 houses in the neighborhood, there are review slides for each word family. You or your students can click on photos that DO NOT belong to the word family to make them disappear.
Here is a break down of the word families included in each set. There are five examples of each word family.
Set 1 – at, et, in, og, ug
Set 2 – ag, am, ad, ap, an
Set 3 – en, ell, it, op, ot
Set 4 – ake, ay, ail, ee, eep
Set 5 – aw, ack, own, ing, ar
I have also included pages that can be used in interactive notebooks or you can make mini photo albums for the word families. There are many options for this activity. It is really versatile so that you can adapt it to your teaching style. You can use the PowerPoints as a springboard for your lesson and give students the pages as a follow-up assessment, they can write the names on the photos as you use the PowerPoint activity, or have students write the words on dry erase boards as you go. The notebook pages and PowerPoints can be used on their own or together.
This is a great way for our kids to practice skills, burn some energy, and help them get fit. This is also great for a day when weather does not allow you to go outside.
