This document contains colorful word and picture cards for the following word families: -at, -an, -ag, -ad, -ap, -op, -ot, -og, -ip, -ig, -in, -ill, -all, -ug, -ut, -un, -ub, -et. The cards can be cut separately and used for blind sorts, picture sorts, and/or word sorts, helping children to distinguish between targeted ending sounds and to sort words into word families. Please be advised that some of the words included in this document do not have accompanying pictures (at, pat, fat, rut, but, etc.) and some words included are non-sense words.
Once the sort activity is taught and practiced, children can complete this activity independently by sorting pictures, words, or both. For example, you may use a labeled pocket chart to have children sort the picture and/or word cards into the assigned word family slots.
