Take a moment to consider how confusing the English language is. Sometimes vowels say their own name, sometimes they don’t, and sometimes they make new sounds when combined with other consonants and vowels.
Beginning and struggling readers can be easily confused with all of the rules of reading. Teaching word families is a proven strategy that helps all readers with chunking, decoding, and fluency.
In this resource, you will find the 4 common word families ready to be sorted. All you have to do is print, cut, laminate, and watch your students become better readers! Have them say the sounds and the word as they sort.
