With these 20 cards, students will read the given CVC word and change the beginning sound to the new letter. Then, on the recording sheet, they will write the word.
There are 6-8 cards per word family. Each word family is labeled a letter (A, B, C, through J) and each card is labeled 1, 2, 3, through 8.
This helps keeps the cards in order and organized.
Students who have the A set (word family: at) should read card 1 which is pat, change the P to F, read card 2 which is fat, change the F to H, read card 3 which is hat, change the H to B, read card 4 which is bat..... and so on.
Put a ring around them to keep them even more organized.
Students should write the old word and the new word on their recording worksheet.
For example, students should write:
1 PAT --> FAT
2 FAT --> HAT
3 HAT --> BAT
4 BAT --> SAT ....and so on.
