A fun starter or game to get students settled or to reward them. Get students working with words and engaging with vocabulary. Students tend to really enjoy this, and can get competitive after the first few rounds!
Explain that students must find as many words as possible, three letters or longer.
The words can be found diagonally, left, right, up, down, but the letters MUST be touching. Use a timer to keep it pacey and quick. (3 mins). Students can work individually, in pairs or groups, your choice. You might like to adapt this resource to allow longer time, letters that aren’t touching or allow students to find the longest word they can. Reward them with a small prize, if you like!
