Figure Ground perception is the ability to screen out any irrelevant visual material when presented with a lot of visual information at one time (to locate the important stimulus without getting confused by the background or surrounding images). This skill is key for good attention and concentration.
In the “Word Funky Letter Tracking” worksheets, the student must focus on one letter at a time within the busy field of all the other surrounding letters as they scan the rows. The student's eyes must move from left to right along each row (not deviate up or down).
Form Constancy is the ability to recognize any given visual stimulus as the same despite changes in its presentation, such as, size, color, texture, direction, orientation or context.
In the “Word Funky Letter Tracking” worksheets, the student must recognize the letters of the alphabet despite the fact that the same letters take on different forms (different sizes, different fonts, different positions).
Visual Discrimination is the ability to identify differences and similarities between shapes, symbols, objects or patterns, by analyzing their individual characteristics and distinctive features.
