Use this graphic organizer to find different parts of speech or words following certain rules. Make it your own and fill in the boxes with whatever type of word your class is working on (homophones, words with a prefix, etc...).
Students take an independent reading book and fill in this chart as they read. I call students "Word Detectives" while they're on the word hunt, searching for particular kinds of words.
This works as a practice activity, not really as a teaching tool.
