Efficient readers are able to find word parts quickly to decode unknown words. Many struggling readers are not able to break words apart and find parts they know quickly. This resource was created to help struggling readers learn common short and long a word parts. This pack will come in handy when planning for word work!

(Parts with * are in the top 37 most common phonograms).
Short and Long “e” Chunks Charts:
This is the same poster as above except for the title.
Short and Long “e” Cards:
These can be used as flash cards or word wall cards. You can use the whole card - phonogram and picture/word, or fold them in half to show only one side.
Short and Long “e” Phonogram Word Lists:
I’ve included a word list for the different phonograms that you can use for word work with varying levels of word complexity to differentiate for students. Varying levels of word complexity include words with just an initial consonant, blends, prefixes and suffixes, and multi-syllabic words.
