Students use their knowledge of Greek and Latin roots, prefixes, and suffixes to create a superhero comic book! Students will love this fun and collaborative word parts project! Additionally, it aligns with several Common Core Standards and will work with any set of word parts you are studying!
Everything is ready to print and includes:
Project Cover Page:
The project cover page includes space for team member names, character and setting details.
Students work in teams to complete their comic book narrative by filling in the missing information. The narrative is set up to include word parts as part of the story.
Superhero and Symbolism:
Students draw their superhero and explain at least three elements of symbolism in the hero’s clothing or appearance.
Superhero and Figurative Language:
Students write a complete description of their superhero using at least three figurative language devices.
Villain and Symbolism:
Students draw their villain and explain at least two elements of symbolism in the villain’s clothing or appearance.
Villain and Figurative Language:
Students write a complete description of their villain using at least three figurative language devices.
Comic Book Storyboard:
The comic book storyboard contains ten frames: front cover, splash page, setting, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution, word part glossary, back cover.
Comic Book Checklist and Rubric:
The checklist and rubric provide students with clear guidelines for expectations and grading. There is also space for identifying team member responsibilities.
A complete student example is provided for the comic book assignment work and final product.
