The Word Power Chart is a simple and direct way to assist children in revising their papers and includes directions for the teacher and students as well as a ready-made chart that is ready to copy.
On the Word Power Chart, the students first list the nouns and verbs from a paragraph they have written. Next, the students think of at least two adjectives that describe each noun and write them beside the nouns. The students are then asked to think of an adverb that describes each verb and write them beside the verbs. They then use the chart to rewrite their original paragraph. I have found that my students (even those in my college classes) write a more interesting paragraph every time!
