Problem-Solving Task Cards
Help your students become a math whiz by providing them with the opportunity to solve addition and subtraction story problems by using strategies like drawing a picture, using words or using numbers to find the solution. Students must also write to explain their thinking! These cards would be perfect for use in a center or by the teacher during math talk time.
The word problems vary in level of difficulty for easy differentiation. This item is best suited for first grade and second grade students.
There are 16 different problem cards and two reproducible recording sheets that may be used repeatedly with additional problem-solving practice from your math text or other resources. Each card is also in black and white for your printing preference. The black and white cards would look great printed on bright cardstock.
The cards can be laminated and kept at a math center. They may also be used for partner work, small group interventions, problem solving practice for early finishers or as a whole-group activity when displayed with the document camera.
Skills involve a variety of basic math operations like addition, subtraction, repeated addition, missing addend and even simple multi-step problems.
