Do your students use Word Reference to look up words when listening, speaking, reading or writing in French? Word Reference is an online dictionary designed to help make learning another language easier.

Product Details:

It takes some practice for students to learn to use Word Reference. This product is designed to help you teach your students how to use this excellent tool and then practice their newly acquired skills. This product includes a detailed lesson with (1) 60 slides. These include (a) a review of some basic grammatical concepts that students need to understand in order to use the site (such as definite and indefinite articles, pronouns). Next, take your students through (b) detailed steps on how to use the dictionary. If you are interested in teaching your students how to use (c) the verb conjugator feature, detailed steps for that are also included. Finally, these slides include (d) 4 practice words which you can walk your students through. This product also includes (2) a Cheat Sheet with a summary of the important grammatical concepts which students can save and access whenever they are looking up words. Finally, there are (3) 6 different activities that the students can try, with (4) all 6 answer keys. These include matching words to images, finding French translations of English nouns, finding English translations of French nouns, finding English translations of French nouns and identifying their gender, finding French verbs, translating sentences into French, selecting the correct French word for an English homonym. Lesson slides are provided on Google Slides. Activities are provided in both digital and printable formats.

This activity can be used in its entirety at the Grade 6 level and beyond.
