Supplement your vocabulary instruction using Greek and Latin roots and affixes with this program organized around prefixes and suffixes every student should know.
The intended focus in this program is on the roots themselves so that students learn the meanings and become able to decipher unknown words by using the roots as clues.
Series A includes 22 lessons, each with 4 to 5 roots and up to 25 example words using those roots. The test for each lesson includes two pages with:
matching questions to assess memorization of root meanings
multiple choice and completion questions to assess ability to decipher and use words in context
open-ended structural questions to assess understanding of how Greek and Latin roots and their meanings contribute to the overall meaning of a word.
Vocabulary words used in the assessment are a balance of example words from the lesson and unfamiliar words that contain the roots from the weekly lesson. Assessments spiral and are cumulative so that students must use knowledge of previously learned roots in addition to those from the weekly lesson.
These tests and answer keys are designed for quick and easy scoring. Teachers may choose to use one or both pages as a weekly quiz in order to differentiate for students.
This set of quizzes is part of a growing yearlong bundle
for teaching vocabulary with Greek and Latin roots.
