Word Snake is a board game that can be played by two (or more) players. This game is perfect for spelling, vocabulary or word work lists. The game makes a great station activity or Guided Reading group activity.
Word Snake is appropriate for students in grades 2-3-4 who are reading at Fountas and Pinnel levels H through T. In this game, students say words (fluency), clap syllables and say rhyming words (phonics), determine synonyms and antonyms (vocabulary), spell words (language skills) and use words in sentences (vocabulary).
-Word Snake Game Board (color or black/white)
-Blank word cards
-Game pieces (not included)
-Dice (not included)
-Dictionary and/or Thesaurus (not included)
-Print Word Snake game board – choose color or black/white version
-Print word card template & write words (vocabulary, spelling, word work)

-Provide dice and player pieces to students
-Train students on how to play
-Allow students to use a dictionary or thesaurus as they play
HOW TO PLAY
-Player 1 rolls the dice
-Player 1 moves their piece and picks a word card
--Player 1 reads the word and does the activity on the space
-If player cannot read the word or do the activity, GO BACK!
-Player 2 takes a turn
-First player to reach FINISH is the winner!
