Here is a word sort activity set for students to sort words on a tree map.
I love using these word sorts as center work, morning work, and extra practice.
Students will practice sorting words based on their word families and/or other spelling patterns with this set of word sort activities. Each page has 2-3 word families/spelling patterns and a word box. Students will need to read the words in the word
box and sort the words according to their family/pattern (short vowels, long vowels, digraphs, and blends, for example).
Some pages include trick words that don’t fit with a family/pattern. In this case, students may choose to leave those words out, make a new family for them, or write them elsewhere.
To save paper, I like to print off ~6 and laminate them so kids can use them with dry erase markers.
Enjoy and happy teaching! :)
