The word sorts in this 6-part product are for r-controlled vowel sounds in the word pattern stage.

* Headers with pictures for ar, are, and air, along with 42 corresponding word cards and a student recording sheet with a key.

* Headers with pictures for er, ear, eer, and ear=ur, along with 30 corresponding word cards and a student recording sheet with a key.

* Headers with pictures for ir, ire, and ier, along with 22 corresponding word cards and a student recording sheet with a key.

* Headers with pictures for long or, ore, oar, and w+or, along with 42 corresponding word cards and a student recording sheet with a key.

* Headers with pictures for ur, ure, and ur_e, along with 24 corresponding word cards and a student recording sheet with a key.

* Headers with pictures for ar, schwa a+r, and or, along with 24 corresponding word cards and a student recording sheet with a key.

Headers and word cards are framed in different colors of a chevron design for easy organization of sets. In order to mix groups of words, the headers and word cards also come with a plain white frame.

Suggestions for Use:
Students place the headings on their desk or a table and place the corresponding picture or
Make it into a folder activity by gluing the headings inside a folder and putting the picture/word cards in a pocket. You may glue the product cover on the front of the folder for easy identification.
Put magnetic tape on the back of all the pieces and have the child complete the activity on the side of a filing cabinet.
Place the headings in the top row of a pocket chart and students will place the corresponding picture or word card below the heading.
