Word Sorts 2: Cut & Paste Short Vowels (CCSS Aligned)
This phonics activity gives your students hands-on practice with short vowel word families. Word sorts are a great tool for helping your students review the rhymes they have learned in class. Each closed sort lesson allows the student to demonstrate their understanding of word patterns and the relationship between letters and sounds through a manipulative activity. There are nine word sort activities. These activities can be used as a review for short vowel sounds and consonant blends (initial and final) or quick independent transition activities during the day. These activities can also be used as reinforcement for your struggling readers.
