Word Sorts: Cut & Paste Short Vowel Words
This phonics activity gives your students hands-on practice with short vowel word families. Word sorts are a great tool for helping your students review the rhymes they have learned in class. Each closed sort allows the student to demonstrate their understanding of word patterns and the relationship between letters and sounds through the use a manipulative activity. There are nine-word sort activities using short vowel CVC and CCVC words. These activities can be used as a review for short vowel sounds or quick independent transition activities during the day. They can also be used to help reinforce short vowel rhymes for your struggling readers.
