There are 22 pages of word sorts for emergent readers included in this pack. The word sorts are vowel combinations (word families). Each page includes 24 words with usually 3 -4 obvious ways to sort them. However, please note it is important to allow students to sort them the way they 'see it' as it allows for deeper discussions about words. Teacher Directions are included.
Vowel combinations that are included are: -ad, -at, -an, -and, -ank, -ake, -age, -ap,
-ape, -ace, -ack, -art, -ast, -ate, -ash, -ask, -ay, -et, -ed, -eek, -eep, -eet, -eck, -eed,
-ench, -ew, -ey, -ent, -eeze, -est, -ess, -ice, -ide, -ig, -ive, -ide, -ook, -oon, -oot, -oop,
-ope, -ore, -ose, -oy, -ug, -um, -unch, -ung, -ush, -y
Your students will be able to study all the vowel combinations and word families noted above plus add their own words.
Teacher directions are included to describe best practices for word sorts.
