Description

Color Sorts-

Can be used for small group reading instruction and as a literacy center. Just laminate each page, cut them out and place in a baggie labeled with the sort.

Black & White Sorts-

Can be used for Interactive Spelling Notebooks. Students cut, mix up, read, manipulate, glue, highlight and write these words throughout the week. By Friday they are ready for their reading and spelling assessments.

No Picture Sorts-

Can be used as a challenge for your above-level, high-achieving or enrichment students.

♥For Small Group Instruction♥

The adult leading the group will watch and assess how well they read and recognize the spelling patterns when they are sorting the words, guiding and discussing as needed. Doing repeated practice with a paraprofessional is great practice as the more they practice, the more fluent they become. These are great for parent helpers who like working with students also!

♥For a Literacy Center♥

Students take a baggie and read and sort the words on their own (or with a group). They can also write the words (or write them in sentences) after they have sorted them for added writing practice.

Distance Learning

If using this resource for distance learning without any printed hard copies, there would not be any cutting and sorting. The activities your students would complete would be the activities they would do once they had sorted and glued the words into their interactive notebook. Those activities are listed in the directions portion of the resource.
