In my classroom, I use Words Their Way by Donald R. Bear, Marcia Invernizzi, Shane Templeton, Francine Johnston, Word Journeys by Kathy Ganske, and Word Sorts and More by Kathy Ganske to organize my Word Study (Spelling) block. I follow a ten day Word Study cycle but may change to 5 day next year. Each group is assessed on a different day and I normally choose 8 to 10 words and record their score. I have found that recording the score tells me nothing later. I have created this grading sheet that allows you to write in the actual feature so later you can review or re-teach features that students struggled on.
