Word Wall: This addition an to your word wall is a Word Wall and is a place to prominently display rule breaker words.
This product is a variation of my
product. It was created from feedback from teachers that were not comfortable with the idea of a "jail". Now you can put your words in the "doghouse"!
Do your students struggle to read and spell those tricky word wall words that I call rule breakers? If so, then the Doghouse is just what you need to add to your Word Wall.
When you add those tricky words to the word wall, add them to the Doghouse too, so your students have another spot to find them when trying to spell. It also makes it easier to practice these words as often as possible as they are isolated in their own special spot.
You can read all about how I use my Word Wall and how I practice these rule breaker words in a blog series by clicking here:
How to Set Up a Word Wall that Your Students will Use!
This set comes with:
•The Doghouse to be printed poster-sized (directions on how to do this are included in the product),
•Information about how I use the the Doghouse for Rule Breakers (or the Word Jail which is a product that serves the same purpose) in my classroom
•A set of word cards. I have included 48 words from the pre-primer, primer, first and second grade Dolch lists.
•An editable file so you can type in your own words. You will need to unzip the file. One file contains the display, word cards and worksheets. The second file is an editable powerpoint.
•3 printables that you can use with your students to reinforce reading the Rule Breaker words.
