***************************************************************************************************

Students could use this resource to prepare for spelling tests or for extended practice with any other important focus words from various subjects. This could be used as a way to extend practice with key vocabulary terms from across your curriculum.

Students can choose a word, and write the letters in the boxes down the side of the page, then cut each letter out on the dotted lines, and use the letters to create new words! If you do not follow a spelling program, and would rather choose your own words or use subject-specific vocabulary terms, provided are multiple versions for:
- Spelling Words
- Vocabulary Words

Also provided are sheets with various numbers of boxes to write letters in, for longer and shorter words.

After cutting the letters apart, students can move the individual letters around to visually build and create new words out of their letters. As students discover new words, they may use the remaining space on both sides of the sheet to record all of the different words they are able to build with their letters. The original word can be recorded at the top of the sheet, for easy recall.

Suggestions for Use:

Print off a copy of the Word Building sheet, and write in one word that you would like your whole class to focus on. You can then photocopy that sheet to distribute to all students.

Alternatively, print blank sheets allowing for student choice, and provide students with a list of preselected words to choose from.

Try some of the provided words as a whole class to get your students familiar with this fun, interactive vocabulary activity! (Challenge your students further by letting them know how many words are possible out of the original word!)
