Product Description
This 80+ page resource has everything you need to reinforce digraph spelling patterns using 5 different hands-on literacy centers. All 5 centers have activities for each of the following digraphs: ch, sh, th, wh. All center activities include words that have these digraphs at the beginning and the end of the word. The only exception is the "wh" activities, since the English language doesn't have any words that end with "wh". ***Download the preview to see the printables for each center***

~ Playdoh Center: students use playdoh to make words on their mats, then record the words on their recording sheet. There are 6 playdoh mats for each digraph, and 1 recording sheet that can be mass-produced and used for all the mats.

~ Word Puzzles Center: stuents assemble word puzzles on their puzzle mats by putting the letters in the correct order and by matching the assembled letters to the correct picture (to check for comprehension). Students then record the words from their puzzles on their recording sheet. There are 6 different puzzles for each blend. There's also a puzzle mat and a recording sheet that can be used interchangeably with all the puzzles.

~ Word Sorts Center: Students sort words according to their digraph on a sorting mat, then record the words they sorted on their recording sheet. There are 4 different sorts. Sort 1: kids sort words into three categories (ch, sh, th). Sort 1D (differentiated): kids sort words into only 2 categories (ch, sh), and the words are further differentiated because they only have digraphs at the beginning of the word. Sort 2: (sh, th, wh). Sort 2D (differentiated): (th, wh) - words only have these diagraphs at the beginning of the word.

~ Slide-A-Word Center: kids use word sliders featuring each initial blend to make words. They decide if each word is a real word or nonsense word, then record the word in the appropriate column on their recording sheet. There are 6 sliders for each digraph (3 have the digraph at the beginning of the word, the other 3 have the diagraph at the end of the word). There's also a recording sheet that can used with any word slider activity.

~ Build-A-Word Center: students put a picture of a word on their mat, say the word, build it with letter and digraph cards, then record it on their recording sheet. There are 6 different pictures for each digraph. The build-a-word mat and letter/digraph cards can be used interchangeably with any of the pictures that are provided (or pictures that represent other spelling patterns you need your kids to work on). There are 2 different sets of pictures for differentiation - one set has each picture labeled with the word, and the other set is not labeled.

All 5 centers also come with a decorative poster with the center name and an "I Can" poster with picture instructions to promote independence for struggling students.
