Product Description
This huge 110+ page resource has everything you need to teach L-blends and R-blends using 5 different hands-on literacy centers. All 5 centers have activities for each of the following blends:
~ L-blends: bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, sl,
~ R-blends:br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr

~ Playdoh Center: kids use playdoh to make words on their mats, then record the words on their recording sheet. There are 2 playdoh mats for each blend, and 1 recording sheet that can be mass-produced and used for all the mats.

~ Word Puzzles Center: kids assemble word puzzles on their puzzle mats by putting the letters in the correct order and by matching the assembled letters to the correct picture (to check for comprehension). Students then record the words from their puzzles on their recording sheet. There are 3 different puzzles for each blend, as well as a puzzle mat & recording sheet that can be used interchangeably with all the puzzles.

~ Word Sorts Center: Students sort CVC words by word family on their mats, then record the words they sorted on their recording sheet. There are 2 different sets of sorts for the L-blends and 2 different sets of sorts for the R-blends. Each sort requires students to sort word cards according to the word's initial blend, then record some of the words they sorted onto their recording sheet. Each set of sorts has 2 options for differentiation: 1) sort words into 3 different blend categories, 2) sort words into only 2 blend categories.

~ Slide-A-Word Center: kids use word sliders featuring each initial blend to make words. They decide if each word is a real word or nonsense word, then record the word in the appropriate column on their recording sheet. There are 3 sliders for each blend, and a recording sheet that can used with any word slider activity.

~ Build-A-Word Center: students put a picture of a word on their mat, say the word, build it with letter and blend cards, then record it on their recording sheet. There are 3 different pictures for each blend; the build-a-word mat and letter/blend cards can be used with all of them. I've also included 2 complete sets of pictures for differentiation - one set has each picture labeled with the word, and the other set is not labeled.

All 5 centers also come with a decorative poster with the center name and an "I Can" poster with picture instructions to promote independence for struggling students.
