Are you looking for a way for your students to practice their word work at home? Well, I have a solution for you...a word work folder! Included in this product are 6 colorful word work folder covers, sorting sheets, and a homework explanation page for students and parents. I have also included a couple of pages that I use weekly for students to practice using words in context in writing the spelling words in sentences. My colleagues and I have successfully used the word work folder with Words Their Way, an excellent word study program, and our newly adopted reading textbook series, Journeys by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
I laminated the file folders to provide durability for the entire year. Students used dry erase markers to label spelling features or category headings. They could easily use the folder again and again by wiping off the dry erase marks on the sorting sheets. I even hole-punched the folders for an easy fit inside a binder for take-home learning and practice.
This product works well as a Literacy Center or Station as well. Students can work on the word work activities independently or with a partner. If you choose to use this as independent work for students to practice at home, be sure to get my FREE Word Work Homework Label file. It will help you keep track of students' work completed at home. Enjoy!
