These Roll, Read, & Write Word Association Game printables are designed to reinforce words taught in First, Second, and Third Grades. This packet contains 81 word game pages jam-packed with fun.
Each printable contains 6 words that have something in common with each other. Before the game begins, the children are asked to read the words and decide how they relate to one another. They write that category on the top of the page. (The teacher may prefer to fill in the category for younger children before running the copies.) Some of the categories include a variety of holidays, seasons, numbers, colors, math words, hobbies, and much more!
Play is easy. First, the student predicts a winner, guessing which word he/she will roll the most. Then, the student rolls a die, reads the word from that column, and writes the word neatly in that column. Play continues until a column is filled. The student fills in the winner on top, checking to see if their prediction was correct.
This game can be played individually, but partners are lots of fun! This activity works very well as a Literacy Center. The students are so actively engaged in the game, that there are fewer interruptions during instruction of guided reading groups.
The printables may be used in any order throughout the year. Simply select the game sheet that works best for that particular day, week, or time of year.
You may want to run a few extra copies off, because students love to play this game several times during the week! Some may even ask to take the game worksheets home for homework!
This packet includes spelling, reading, and handwriting practice all rolled up in one fun package! Very engaging!! Don’t miss out!
