Transitional readers encounter a great number of multisyllabic words as they read. Breaking larger words into syllable parts is an important decoding skill. Using word work outs is a way to practice syllabication in a fun and active way. Give students a movement break while still engaging them in a meaningful learning activity. This set includes a set of activity cards with suggestions of movements to act out as you break words into syllables.
