Product Description
Use this double set of task cards to help your students gain fluency with common blends and spelling patterns. The sets are differentiated so you can better meet the needs of your students. Each set contains 32 cards and requires students to find one letter to complete three different four-letter words.

The first set will work well for younger students and those who are struggling because the multiple choice format makes it easier to eliminate choices to find the correct answer. The short answer format of the second set offers a greater challenge. The words in each set are different, so you can use both sets with the same students without duplicate content. However, the answers are the same, so you can use the same answer key for both sets. In addition to the two cards and answer key, there are also cover cards for each set, 4 challenge cards that will work with both sets, and two student response sheets (a half sheet for just the letter answers and a whole sheet for writing out each of the three words on the cards).

This resource contains the following:

32 Multiple Choice Task Cards
4 Challenge Cards
Cover Cards and Answer Key
2 Student Response Sheets
32 Short Answer Task Cards

Printing and Cutting:
These cards were made to be printed in color, but will print out fine in gray scale too. They should print out with even margins around the cards; however, because every printer is different, it is possible that you may need to adjust your printer settings. Selecting “actual size” or adjusting the size percentage should do the trick. Cut the cards apart using the dotted guidelines (discarding the bottom strip). Laminate if possible. Another option is to print on cardstock.

Common Core:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.2.2d Generalize learned spelling patterns when writing words (e.g., cage → badge; boy → boil).

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.3.2f Use spelling patterns and generalizations (e.g., word families, position-based spellings, syllable patterns, ending rules, meaningful word parts) in writing words.

Task Cards for a variety of topics can be found in the Task Card section of my TpT store.
