My first graders love showing off what they're learning to others. This is a complete set of all Dolch Primer sight words on wristbands. Students practice tracing and writing the words on their wristbands, put 'em on, and show them to their families when they get home after school. You can choose to copy them onto plain or colored paper at a size that best fits your students. This activity also incorporates handwriting practice. See suggestions below, and have fun practicing those tricky sight words with a little meaningful, extra repetition!
Suggested Use: You may ask students to trace the words on the first 2 lines (with a pencil or colored writing utensils) and write the word twice on the bottom lines. It’s an easy way to practice (makes a great “Exit Ticket”) and a simple way to share with parents the sight words you’re covering in your classroom!
*I also sometimes use these as a “Must Do” for Word Work during Daily 5. After students finish their wristband, they may choose another “May Do” word work activity. These are so simple that they do not take much time at all for young students to complete and they can easily be worked into your pre-existing routines.
*Students who finish early or want an extension may write a sentence with the new word on the back of the wristband. I’m including a blank, lined template for that on the final page of this product in case you’d like to copy it back-to-back with the wristband of your choice.
*Students who show dedication to effort with their handwriting can get to choose a sticker or two for their wristband for added decoration and flair! You can also give them a sticker if they can spell the new word with their eyes closed, which my 1st graders love!
*Note: I also copy some of these at a smaller size to better fit those with smaller wrists :)
