Make more of your morning calendar routine! These calendar pieces have themed words for your class to learn and discuss. The vocabulary is appropriate for PK-2 students.
This unit has words for each month from September to May. Each month, there are at least 60 themed words from which to choose. Some example words include:
January: anorak, drafty, ermine, flurries, equality
February: adore, First Lady, burrow, dental hygienist, carnation
There is space on the calendar pieces for student calendar helpers to write the numeral for the day. The pieces are the standard size for most classroom calendars (2.5” by 2.5”)
I copy the pieces on colored paper. This way, you may also make a pattern with the pieces. For example, I copy the September pieces on red and yellow, and we make an AB pattern for the month.). This way, students work on patterning and well as learning an unfamiliar word!
These calendar pieces are easy prep. Just print on colored paper, cut apart, and use.
**Also included are Calendar Journal for K-2. There is a cover and 3 response page choices (word/definition/sentence/picture; word/definition/picture; and word/picture)
Prep for Journal: Copy cover and desired number of response pages. Stack with cover on top, copy, and cut in half down the middle (each copy yields two student booklets). **
