This is a printable sheet that we use every day! At the closing circle of the day, we discuss what we learned that day and choose one word to write.
This activity has two primary purposes:
1. To give the kids a "talking point" with their families. So many parents say, "My kid doesn't tell me anything about his/her day!" This gives them one thing per day to ask about. Parents have commented how much they love the conversation starter.
2. Handwriting practice. This is a built-in time to work on letter formation every day. It gives a great formative assessment, since every kid is writing the same word. You could even keep their Word of the Day for conferences as a writing sample.
-Wide lines to accommodate kid writing
-Spot for word of the day and number of the day
-Spot for parent/teacher comments
-Shape for each day- "We are writing on the heart spot today!"
