Are you looking for ways to get your students more engaged in learning new vocabulary? This 36 page packet is the answer!
There are five different templates to choose from. Students will get the opportunity to better understand the vocabulary by defining each word, identifying synonyms, antonyms, number of syllables, drawing illustrations, creating comic strips, writing short stories and other tasks while increasing their vocabulary and having fun.
There are 30 weeks worth of words (random topics) and definitions. There is also a list of 54 additional words if you would rather supplement those. **Definitions were found at http://www.dictionary.com and http://www.merriam-webster.com. Clipart found at http://www.google.com.
I use this packet daily in my classroom. You can choose to utilize it as morning work (which I do), at a vocabulary center or in multiple other ways. I write the "Word of the Day" on the board and students fill out the selected template each morning when they enter my classroom. (I made a booklet for each students with the templates, so they can keep it at their desk/table.) We go over the word each morning. I allow one or two students to fill out the template on our smart board. Everyone enjoys seeing what other people come up with!
