Word of the Day is a series of vocabulary videos that combine useful information about the word with a fun story from history that entertains while using the word in context. Word bank is usually pulled from lists of useful ACT or SAT words.

Today's word is "Pertinacious." Our story comes from William Ernest Henly and his inspiration for his best-known poem, "Invictus."

In the supporting document, you'll find a suggested writing prompt that can be used as an attention activity or writing exercise. The point is to get the students to use the word right after learning it.
