READY FOR THE WHOLE YEAR! All you have to do is print!
Word of the week for use in a classroom - or for the whole school. Each word is in here twice - the first comes with the word, part of speech, definition, antonym, synonym, the word used in a sentence, and a picture showing the word in use. I used this in a central location for all students in the school to see. The second is a hallway sign - the word, part of speech, and definition. For our school, I copied these 5 times, and hung them in our hallways and other locations.
At our school, students have a chance to win a small prize at the end of the week using these words. If they hear or read our word of the week sometime while that word is displayed, they are able to put a sticky note on the board where we display the word, sentence, picture, etc. They write where they heard or read the word, and their homeroom teacher, and at the end of the week they get to pick a pencil, folder, marker, etc.
We have also created a word wall in one of our central hallways. After the word is used and we move to the next, we hang it- and all the pages that go with it- in that central hall. At the end of the year, we have a huge word wall!
