Word of the Week (#WOTW) or Word of the Day is a great way to give your kids interesting vocabulary outside of your reading series. However, I feel they forget a lot of the words after the next word is introduced.
I created this Google Slides presentation for my students to keep track of the words
---word, definition, part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, used in a sentence---
and (hopefully!) go back to them later in the year to enrich their writing.
I call it a "Slidebook" like a digital notebook... They can't lose a digital one! I put mine on Google Classroom so they students always know where it is and don't need to search their Google Drive. You can absolutely send it to kids/have them share it with you, though!
You can keep this digital and have kids make a copy of the slide I've prepared for each word. The background is locked, so the only thing the kids can change are the font types/font sizes. That way they won't delete any of the prompts and skip part of the assignment!
Alternatively, you could print this for each student or use it yourself to display the word of the day on the board (printed), Interactive White Board (digital), or in a small group or sorts. You may even want to laminate a copy and use dry erase marker on it to save yourself some prep time for centers/stations if you take the small group route.
I hope you like it and your students find it useful!
Once you purchase/download this, you'll find a page with a link that will allow you to create your own copy of the presentation. If you have any problems or questions please email me at email@example.com
