This activity is an engaging way for students to learn the difference between nouns, verbs and adjectives.
The board game is set up like Candyland and is meant for more than one player. As students make their way through the board, they will have to chart different words and put them into the categories of nouns, verbs and adjectives. There are special cards that might help them jump ahead, push them back to the beginning or keep them stuck for a few rounds. Overall, kids are learning while they get to play a fun board game, too!
There are two different difficulty levels. The green is the harder version and includes vocabulary based on 6th grade lists. The blue version is the easier of the two and is based on 2nd grade vocabulary. However, these words are still challenging and require students to understand the difference between the three categories.
While this game is based on a third grade standard, I have found that kids in my sixth grade class still need review.
