This is a smaller version of my Words Their Way poster bundle.
It includes clipart (pink) to make posters for your WTW program and one poster background (blue). It also includes an editable word document for you to add the clipart and writing to.

I use this in my classroom as a display on my big screen, as smaller handouts for group or individual work and as a homework reminder for students and parents.

A brief description of the different activities:
Alphabetical Order – write your words in order from A-Z
Backwards writing – Write your word normally, and underneath or beside, write it backwards. You can colour to show consonants and vowels if you wish too.
Blind sort – A blind sort involves working with a partner and testing one another on their spelling words. Students are not to use the cards to help as they must be able to spell their words without assistance. A good one to do before the spelling test day. This can also be done without the writing component; this is done with a partner. Student A must say their word (but not show it to their partner). Partner B then tells his partner which column to put it into. This encourages students to visualise the word in their head, as opposed to just seeing it.
Blue Vowels – Write your sort with all the vowels written in blue.
Brainstorm – Children think of any words they know which have the same spelling pattern as they are learning. This can be done after the sort has been described/explained, but before the actual sort is given.
Fancy Writing – Write your sort in fancy writing, or interesting letters.
Fast Finger –After sorting, children point and read words quickly. Similar to a speed sort, but I don’t time it.
Memory – Can be played two ways; with a partner who is learning the same sort and they have to find matching words. Or a version of memory can be played by a ‘match’ being made by turning over words from the same column of the sort. The latter can be played independently or with a partner.
Missing Letter –
Outline words – Children trace closely around the shape of their words.
Partner Sort - This is sorting your words with a partner. You need to take it in turns, saying the word you are about to place down, and which column it goes into. Your partner must agree that it is being put into the correct column.
Picture Word match – Simple matching activity when a group is working on a sort with pictures.
Snap – With a partner or small group, children take turns to turn over a word and if the spelling patterns match, then the first to ‘snap’ wins the pile.
Pyramid Writing – Children write each word by writing the first letter on line 1, then line 2 has the first two letters, line 3 has the first 3 letters, and so on, to build a pyramid shape of each word.
Rainbow writing – words writing in the colours of the rainbow – or multi coloured.
Scrabble – students use real tiles or a sheet with the tile values on, to add up the value of each word. If you Google search ‘printable scrabble tiles’ you will find a resource. Or, you can make your own by photocopying tiles. Children could also cut and paste from a sheet to create your work if extra fine motor skills was a need in your class.
Speed sort - A Speed Sort involves sorting your words into the correct categories based on their features or sounds. This can be done with a partner where you race against each other, or can be done independently where students use a timer and try to achieve their personal best time.
Vowel highlight – Write words and highlight vowels.
Word Hunt – Look through books, newspapers, magazines and hunt around the room for words that match your sort spelling pattern.
