I absolutely LOVE the Words Their Way system! This will be my second year fully implementing it into my classroom. Although last year was very successful, my team and I continued to look for ways to further dive into the program. We wanted to go beyond the basic sorts of open sort, blind sort, etc.
This summer I read through the Words Their Way book, paying particular attention to the Syllables and Affixes stage. I found many other activities I wanted to incorporate into my classroom.
I use a pocket chart to organize my four WTW groups. Each group's schedule is scaffold so that I only have one group taking their test each day. I place the different task cards next to the group's number so that they know which task to work on for that day. It makes the WTW system run very smoothly!
