Print off and hand out the worksheet on page 3. Students then cut out the labels at the bottom of the page along the lines. In small groups or pairs, students discuss where they think the words belong along the line continuum - the more persuasive the higher it goes. This page can be used as a continual reference when constructing persuasive texts.
For a classroom display simply print off the labels on pages 6,7 and 8. This intentionally uses the same base words as the worksheet. Construct a simple arrow using two strips of cardboard joined end to end and a triangle for the pointer. Attach the labels along the continuum for a class wall display.
A blank version of the worksheet has been included if you wish to use your own words, plus a blank grid for extra words you may wish to add to an extended class continuum.
