Fun and very simple lab to help engage students and practice what they've learned about with work and power. Minimal materials needed: textbooks (or anything for your students to lift) and a timer. Students will determine which group member is the most "powerful". Each student will do the same amount of "work" and they will determine who could get it done the fastest. Students will need to first calculate the amount of work they do (based on the items they lift and distance they lift them). The procedure is written based on how I use it in class, but you can edit it based on how you complete it. The lab includes a graph for your students to make a bar graph to represent the results. There are 4 follow-up questions to get your students thinking. Also includes a self-assess section for your students. Lab is 100% editable to tailor it to your class and needs.
