This packet is for introducing or reviewing basic editing skills. It is based around an acronym I use in my classroom, CLFP, to help my students remember these 4 basic requirements:
C-Capital letters at the beginning of every sentence.
L-Lowercase letters throughout every word.
F-Finger spaces between every word.
P-Punctuation at the end of every sentence.
This packet includes:
*Two sets of CLFP mini posters
*Personal CLFP Editing Checklists (4 Different Versions)
*Editing Practice Sheets using CLFP
*Cut and paste CLFP activity
*CLFP spinner workstation activity using Dolch sight word lists pre-primer through 2nd grade
What is CLFP?
*CLFP is an acronym I use with my students when I’m either introducing editing for the first time or just refreshing my students at the beginning of the year. Editing and teaching editing can be a challenging and overwhelming task for both the teacher and student. I have found that if I start with just 4 basic editing concepts and four basic editing marks, it helps my students train their brains to start looking at their writing as a work in progress and not just a one time activity. CLFP does not involve editing spelling errors, punctuation like commas, apostrophes etc. It is just basic, basic editing.
