Pg. 3-4 Vocabulary in Context – copy pages A and B back to back – fold on the solid lines, cut on the dotted lines – write a sentence and draw an illustration for each word.
Pg. 5-6 Blast Off! – roll the dice to see how many times you need to write your spelling words, keep on rolling the dice, taking turns writing each spelling word until one of your spelling words makes it up to space – can do both pages at once or do half your spelling words one day and half another day
Pg. 7 Space Spelling! – unscramble your spelling words and match the aliens to the correct spaceship – color the aliens depending on their vowel sounds – record how many “ow” and “ou” words there are in your list

Pg. 9 Space Charades! - cut apart you’re the cards and act out space jobs in a small group – you can give some verbal hints if needed
Pg. 10-12 Plural Nouns, Possessive Nouns, Plural Possessive Nouns – copy Pg. A and Pg. B back to back - decide which words are plural, possessive, or plural possessive and glue them under the correct picture

Pg. 14-18 Searching for Space words / Categorizing Your Space Words – write down in your accordion folding book (enough for two students) as many space words that you can think of or find in your reading selection – categorize some of your space words on the alien sheets – one page is blank so that you can come up with your own categories
Pg. 19-22 Headings and Captions – color, cut, and glue your space shuttle onto a paper lunch bag – cut out the astronaut cards – write 4 captions and 4 headings – write their purpose then put the astronauts in the space shuttle
Pg. 23-31 Writing and Craft Activity – 2 choices – Working in Space Would Be…- I Want to be an Astronaut … Write your opinion with details that support your opinion
Pg. 32-38 Blast Off! – A High Frequency-Word game – take turns reading the cards and putting them in your space shuttle – lose turns for reading a word incorrectly or picking up a word you already have in your space shuttle – winner fills up his/her space shuttle first
Pg. 39-46 My Planet Report! – this report can be done in class or sent home as a homework assignment – choose a planet to research – copy off the pages, staple on the side to form a book
