Inside this unit you will find materials for making words. The materials are created to be used with file folders in order to allow students to create words using vowels, constants, blends, digraphs and trigraphs.
What this means is I have provided all the beginning sounds for you and your students to use when creating words. You will need to provide the word families that can be added to these beginning sounds to make words.
There are four different cards that you can have students use for these word families. Included are four, three and two letter box cards. With theses cards the students will need to write letters inside each box. Then I have also added a box with handwriting lines in case you don’t want to use letter boxes.
With all this being said here is how it works. First you will need to print, cut out and glue down all the vowels, constants, blends, digraphs and trigraphs strips onto the file folders. Then you should laminate the file folders for durability. You will also need to pick what cards you want to use for the word families. I laminate these so the students can write on them with a board marker and then erase them when they are done.
Now let the word building begin! I have also included a student response sheet for this activity! Thank you so much for looking at one of my products!
