PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

After teaching my Algebra 1 students to simplify radicals, I then have them work with radical expressions. I've found the best way to teach this is to give them an expression with variables, which with they seem more familiar (they generally know that 3 + 5x does not equal 8x, as they are not terms), and then give them a similar expression with radicals.

I use this activity within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure they are getting the purpose of the questions.

The file includes spiral review problems.

For this worksheet, I expect students to show their work on a separate sheet of paper.

Please download the pdf preview file first, so you can see exactly what's included; the product file is a word document, which you may personalize for your students.
