Description

A 2-page worksheet that covers distance-speed-time (DST) calculations through 7 leveled word problems.

Page 1 provides a short review/summary of DST word problems, including how to use a formula triangle to solve for the 3 different variables and the 4 elements each correct solution should include for full points.

Pages 1-2 feature 7 leveled word problems, equally divided between solving for D, S, and T variables. These word problems are of higher difficulty than those found in the first worksheet of the series, Distance-Speed-Time Word Problems (A). In fact, 5 out of the 7 word problems feature metric conversions and are clearly identified for students.

Pages 3-5 feature a full color-coded answer key that can be used by the teacher alone, displayed to students on a screen/interactive white board, or handed out to students who have completed the document.

This worksheet comes in 2 formats: a PDF document and fully-editable WORD document

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically. Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form; convert between forms as appropriate; and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies. For example: If a woman making $25 an hour gets a 10% raise, she will make an additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50. If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge; this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.
