A 4-page worksheet that provides an overview of how Dmitri Mendeleev developed his periodic table of elements and why it was the most widely accepted.

I typically use this as a summary reading exercise that acts as a supporting document to my PPT presentation on the periodic table. After showing the relevant PPT slides to my students and viewing a brief video clip, I hand out this reading exercise for students to work on for the remainder of the lesson and for homework. This product provides a 2-page reading exercise followed by a 1-page review exercise, as described below.

Contents:

Pages 1-2 features a reading exercise on the following topics:

  • How is the modern periodic table organized
  • What an element's location on the periodic table reveals about its properties

Page 3 features a set of 9 short answer questions that review all main concepts found in the reading.
