This packet includes three fill-in-the-blank worksheets plus an extension for students to write their own dialogue with "ser" and "estar" in context with adjectives. The worksheets each have 8 sentences with blanks. It would be great for a sub day because it's pretty self-explanatory, and with the help of the keys, a non-Spanish-speaking sub could easily help the kids. You could also use each of the worksheets separately to practice "ser," practice "estar," and then practice determining which one you need to use with different adjectives and contexts.
The vocab used in these is taken mostly from Realidades 1, chapters 1B (characteristic adjectives), 5A (family members), and 4B (condition/emotion adjectives). Adjectives that are not in those chapters have an English translation so that kids can figure out whether they go with "ser" or "estar" in context (for example, "enojado" and "amable.")
The first worksheet is only "ser" (Ella ___ (ser) muy ___ (trabajador)), and students have to write the correct conjugation and correct form of the given adjective. Then there are three blanks for students to write their own original sentences that use "ser" plus and adjective. The second worksheet is only "estar" (Nosotros ___ (estar) ___ (cansado)), and students again have to conjugate and make adjectives agree. The third worksheet makes them choose "ser" or "estar," conjugate, and make adjectives agree (Yo ___ (ser/estar) ___ (impaciente), pero hoy ____ (ser/estar) ____ (tranquilo). The fourth page is an extension that will keep those over-achievers busy writing a dialogue that uses "ser," "estar" and adjectives given in a word bank.
A key is included.
